"I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night. " - Galileo
As a child I was always fascinated by the stars. Growing up in rural Montana, there was a lot of sky to view the big dipper, the little dipper and the other constellations. I remember being outside at night and seeing all of the incredible beautiful stars shining so bright and it would ease my soul. I would feel almost renewed by gazing at the night sky.
As I got older I did love reading weekly horoscope in the newspaper or magazines and to be honest my cancer placement always felt very spot on for me. But I never realized there was so much more to astrology then just the horoscopes.
After I graduated college with a teaching degree, I realized that no one really prepares you for a classroom of children during a full moon. I remember my mother when she use to work in the ER she would tell stories about how much the full moon can affect how busy it is, but I never truly understood it till I started working with children.
See full moons really do have such an impact on people. I know during full moons for myself, I struggle with sleep which then makes me very groggy and short tempered lol! When I was teaching I would be amazed at how differently the children would react during the full moon. Kids who were normally very chill would act out more, and overall children just being more cranky. I started to realize that this pattern was happening with the full moon and was shocked by how much of an impact the universe can have on us.
So I started to learn more about the planets, mainly focusing on the moon. I always thought it was curious on how often times women would sync up to the moon with their periods and their cycles. When I was studying the moon I realized I had no idea that I had a moon sign (or all the other planets as well)! Which then made me want to learn about the other planets and signs and how that could impact us.
This all led me to learning about birth charts which is like a picture of the sky and all of the planets at the exact moment you were born. Delving into birth charts really helped me see some patterns in my life, but the biggest take away from learning more about astrology and birth charts has been the permission to just be me. It is like a deep dive into you personally and to really mediate about where you have been and how you can continue to grow.
Reading my own birth chart has been fascinating about the connections I have been able to put into place and about the ease in which I understand more fully about myself and that I feel is truly the greatest lesson of all, to take the time to learn more about yourself and explore you!
